Let’s talk about something super important: the difference between what you CAN do and what you WILL do.
Words matter, and so let’s look at how changing this one small word can make a big difference in your life.
Can vs. Will: What’s the Difference?
When you say “I can” do something, it means you have the ability to do it. For example:
- I can schedule appointments
- I can ask for a review
- I can make changes
But when you say “I WILL” do something, that’s a promise to yourself. It’s a commitment!
Here’s a secret: The thoughts in your head can become real things in your life. But you have to be specific! Instead of saying “I hope” or “I can,” say “I WILL.”
Here are some examples:
- “I will schedule three appointments today”
- “I will ask for three Google reviews”
- “I will go beyond just doing my job”
Want to make your goals powerful? Follow these steps:
- Write down your goal
- Make it specific
- Add a date
- Start with “I will”
Some examples of this are:
- “I will save $500 by the end of the month”
- “I will improve my work skills this year”
- “I will weigh 180 pounds by the end of June”
Your Brain is Your Biggest Helper
When you tell your brain what you WILL do, something amazing happens. Your brain starts looking for ways to make those things happen. It’s like having a super-smart helper inside your head.
Here’s a fun tip: Find a buddy who can help keep you on track. Challenge each other to:
- Replace “I can” with “I will”
- Support each other’s goals
- Check in on progress
Every day is a gift. You don’t get unlimited days, so make each one count. Turn your “can” into “will” and watch amazing things happen!
Remember: You become the person you say you will become. So start telling yourself who that person is – today!
