Have you heard this before: I can’t always choose what happens 𝙩𝙤 me, but I can always choose what happens 𝙞𝙣 me.
This is to say, it’s going to rain some days in our lives, but we don’t have to let it ruin our day.
Some things in life are beyond our control, but also some things are within it.
Our attitude regarding the events that occur in areas beyond our control can be the difference-maker, both with the event itself 𝙖𝙣𝙙 also with what happens next.
The right attitude in the areas that we do control will always be a difference-maker.
𝙄𝙣 𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙙𝙨, 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙜𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙙𝙞𝙛𝙛𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙢𝙮 𝙙𝙞𝙛𝙛𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚-𝙢𝙖𝙠𝙚𝙧 𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙢𝙖𝙠𝙚 𝙞𝙨 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣 𝙢𝙚, 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙨.
Imagine an irate customer comes into your agency, demanding to speak to you, making outlandish claims and blaming you for events that transpired clearly outside of your control, let alone anyone’s control.
Say this customer hit a deer, or some act of God affected their policy.
What can you do?
You can shout back.
You can listen to what they have to say and then pout through the rest of your day.
Or worse, react in anger towards someone or something else after that customer leaves.
OR…. you can look at this interaction as a 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 for you 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺, and respond professionally and with compassion, afterward making it a point to spread even more positivity amongst your team after the customer leaves.
Your team will notice, and be grateful for your having handled things the way you did.
𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲.
That is why your ATTITUDE is your greatest ASSET or LIABILITY…….. It makes you or breaks you…….. It can lift you (and those around you) up or bring you (and everyone else) down.
A positive mental attitude will not let you do everything in life and it can certainly be a challenge to practice in all cases. It’s a discipline and it can most definitely help you do anything better than you would if your attitude were negative.
You do anything better than you would if your attitude were negative.
