Here’s the truth about work, no matter what a person does for a living: There will be aspects of the job that you are not going to like. There will be things you actually hate about the job.

Not because they like to do it. Because they know they ๐™๐™–๐™ซ๐™š to.

My personal tactic to address what I like doing the least is doing that thing very first in my day. I call it my ๐— ๐—ข๐—ฅ๐—ก๐—œ๐—ก๐—š ๐—ค๐—จ๐—œ๐—–๐—ž ๐—›๐—œ๐—ง๐—ฆ.

Years back, this was cold calling. At the end of each day, I made a list of 20 people to call the next morning. It was the thing I did BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE (including email, chatting with coworkers, and even the second cup of coffee!). Why? For four reasons:

  1. I wanted it OFF MY PLATE as soon as possible.
  2. It got my energy going and I felt a SENSE OF ACCOMPLISHMENT early in the day.
  3. It built MOMENTUM which helped me enjoy the rest of my day.
  4. Some people would actually call me back – so it led to some NEW CUSTOMERS.

It won’t be all that fun, but it will be a discipline you’ll master and will thank yourself for it.
