Insurance office catchphrases. Do you have one?
In my opinion….every successful agency needs one or two.
What is your battle cry when things get tough?
What is your go-to phrase when there seems to be no answers or solutions to a problem?
Catchphrases are important because they can help form a bond amongst your team. And they guide you as a producer. We’ve had a few through the years at my agency, but one of our most recent we stole from Dr. Kevin Elko.
𝗦𝗼 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁? 𝗡𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁?
At first, it might not seem like much of a catchphrase. And to some it might even sound a bit cold, nothing to rally about.
But the truth is we are in a business that is not for the weak. We see people fail and quit in this industry every single day. And there are things happening all around us that might not be in our favor, that we aren’t happy about, that we don’t think is fair.
𝗦𝗼 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁? 𝗡𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁?
Our rationale around it: Whatever it is, you can get over it and move on or you can let time pass you by as you sit and grumble about it and let the negative take you over.
Every single day at our insurance agencies things change or things happen that we wish didn’t:
- The customer doesn’t call you back.
- Prospect “no shows” for an appointment.
- You ran five quotes and didn’t see any of them.
𝗦𝗼 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁? 𝗡𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁?
- The customer hollered over a billing issue.
- The customer isn’t happy about a claim experience.
- One of your biggest households just got dropped.
𝗦𝗼 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁? 𝗡𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁?
- You woke up with a headache.
- You have a billing issue of your own on something.
- You got stuck in traffic and were late for an important meeting.
𝗦𝗼 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁? 𝗡𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁?
These four words are our go-to all day long.
If you are going to succeed at your insurance agency (or with anything in life) it’s important to have a short-term memory of the stuff that doesn’t go right every day. Bad things and undesirable results will happen, we know this. The ones who can accept it happened and move on fairly quickly are the ones who are more likely to WIN their day.
𝗦𝗼 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁? 𝗡𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁?
What’s your office catchphrase? If you don’t have one, make this a fun exercise. Think of all the phrases, comebacks and pick-me-ups you have used at your agency. Pick or vote on your favorites and use them all day long with one another. Use them. Overuse them. And be motivated by them.
