I want to share an amazing exercise that taught me something powerful about personal growth and facing our weaknesses.
The Simple Challenge
Here’s a fun experiment I want you to try.
- Grab a piece of paper
- Write this sentence three times: “I use my strengths every day”
- Now, here’s the tricky part – use your non-dominant hand (your not-usually-writing hand) to write the same sentence again
What Happens Next
When you try writing with your other hand, something interesting happens:
- It feels super awkward
- You’ll move much slower
- Your writing looks messy at first (very messy for most of us)
But guess what? If you write that sentence with your non-dominant hand several more times, you’ll get better with each try.
Here’s the most important thing I learned: You only have a weakness if you let it stop you from succeeding.
Most of our weaknesses exist because we choose to ignore them. We hide behind our comfortable skills and avoid challenging ourselves.
Take a minute for some honest reflection. Ask yourself:
- What skills am I avoiding?
- What feels uncomfortable that I should practice?
- Where can I improve, even just a little bit?
Just like writing with your non-dominant hand gets easier, your skills will improve if you:
- Stay committed
- Practice regularly
- Don’t give up when it feels hard
In business – and in life – we must always strive to level up. We shouldn’t be satisfied with staying comfortable.
Challenge yourself, start slow, practice those awkward skills, and watch yourself grow!
Remember: A little improvement every day leads to big changes over time.
